An Unfinished List Is Still a Workday

August 31, 2026 · Casual Scribbles

Notebook and work list on a desk

I used to end every workday by looking at the tasks left undone. It was an efficient way to make progress feel invisible.

Now I write a second list before I close the laptop: decisions made, problems softened, and things I learned. It is less dramatic than crossing off a box, but it tells the truth more often.

There are always tasks waiting for tomorrow. That is not a personal failure. It is a slightly annoying feature of having a job.

An unfinished list can still belong to a finished workday. I am practising that sentence.
